The Melbourne Cup, BY SEA!

Six nights, one very good hat, and the race that stops a nation. You're sorted from the moment the lines get thrown off.

Here is a thought that could rearrange your whole November. What if, instead of fighting for a Melbourne hotel room the one week every room in the city is spoken for, you simply floated in?

That is the entire idea. You board Carnival in Sydney on a Sunday afternoon, the lines come off at half past three, and your accommodation quietly follows you down the coast. You unpack once, and the room, the pools, the dinner table and the cheerfully-average poolside band all come along for the ride.

There is a lazy day at sea to ease into it, which we recommend you spend doing as close to nothing as is humanly possible. Then Melbourne appears, and you get three full days of it with the ship parked in the middle of town as your own harbourside hotel.

And then, the big one. Cup Day at Flemington, hosted by us, frock and fascinator entirely optional but wildly encouraged. You are there for the race the whole year leans toward, then back aboard for one more night in the city before the easy sail home. Wednesday morning you wake up in Sydney, we point you at your flight, and the only thing you have had to organise is which hat.

We take care of the flights across, the transfers, the cabin you actually want and Cup Day itself. You take care of turning up. Tony is aboard, naturally, keeping the whole thing running while looking like he isn’t.

Like the sound of it?This one's ready when you are.
