Princess Cruises turned our love of margaritas into a numbers game. During eight hours aboard the Regal Princess, passengers bought 3,410 margaritas. That volume was enough to set a new Guinness World Record for the most margaritas sold in that time period.
The record was set on while the 3,560-guest ship was docked in Cozumel. The event took place during a seven-day Western Caribbean sailing out of Galveston, Texas. According to the official adjudicator, the previous record stood at 2,728 margaritas.

Setting a record of this scale requires some serious timing and pacing. Making and selling 3,410 cocktails over eight hours breaks down to roughly 426 margaritas an hour. That means the cruise ship bartenders served just over seven drinks every minute.
The record-breaking beverage was the cruise line's signature 24K Margarita. The drink features an organic blanco tequila.
Selling thousands of drinks in a single afternoon seems like an isolated stunt until you look at the broader numbers. Princess Cruises reported selling 1,038,197 of the exact same cocktail between January 1, 2025, and January 7, 2026.
That million-drink milestone shows that the record day was essentially just a highly concentrated version of normal operations.
Made with Pantalones Organic Tequila, the cocktail is part of a partnership Princess launched fleetwide with the brand in October 2024. Co-founders Camila and Matthew McConaughey even sent a video message to the ship to congratulate the crew and guests for breaking the record.
For most cruise lines, serving 3,410 margaritas in eight hours would be the main headline. For Princess, it was apparently just another milestone in a very busy year for one cocktail.
