2027 Adelaide MotoGP circuit unveiled

South Australian Premier Peter Malinauskas unveils the venue MotoGP will visit next season

According to ABC News, the South Australian government has released designs for a $96 million Adelaide street circuit planned to host MotoGP from November 2027. Premier Peter Malinauskas unveiled the 4.13-kilometre layout, which revives parts of the city’s former Formula One circuit, including a straight along Rundle Road and a corner near the state heritage-listed Stag Hotel.

The project would remove nearly 400 trees in Adelaide’s eastern parklands. The government said this includes 42 significant trees and 335 trees classified as regulated, unregulated, invasive, dead or in poor health. Another 88 trees would be relocated, while 22 remain under investigation, including 15 significant trees. Mr Malinauskas said 3,770 trees would be planted under a 10-to-one replacement commitment.

The proposed circuit would have 15 turns and a 900-metre straight on Dequetteville Terrace. The government said MotoGP motorcycles could reach 343km/h and Supercars up to 265km/h. The Adelaide 500 is set to use the same track from 2027, while the Tour Down Under is expected to race on it from January 2028. The government forecast a $200 million annual economic benefit.

The circuit budget does not include a new temporary pit building. Separately, the government announced a $15 million Adelaide Park Lands Nature Positive Package for tree canopy, butterfly habitat restoration, River Torrens revitalisation and water infrastructure supporting platypus reintroduction.

Bulldozers scheduled to begin work in December.

We will have packages released soon for Tour Down Under, Supercars and MotoGP available for this venue.
